A big thank you to Dr. Gretchen for the cool video talking about heat intolerance. She has great tips and suggestions for beating the heat. One of which is our ThermApparel Cooling Vest

Transcript of video:

"A lot of people with Multiple Sclerosis, as well as other autoimmune diseases, have difficulty regulating their body temperature which often leads to heat intolerance. Heat intolerance is when you core temperature rises by at least half of a degree.

When your core temperature rises one or many symptoms can arise. Perhaps that is weakness or fatigue or vision changes. No matter what the symptoms are, it’s caused because the inside of your body is warming up too much and your body is reacting.

My best tip to help you manage heat intolerance is to cool your core temperature down. I have two strategies that I prefer to do this.

The first one is to cool it down by wearing a cooling vest or some type of cooling device. One reason I love the ThermApparel UnderCool is because it sits right against your body and it almost immediately cools your core temperature down.

The second tip is to ingest ice cold water. If possible have a cup next to you most times throughout the day with ice cold water in it and just take small sips throughout the day. Both of these strategies can be done preventatively or if you’ve already felt some symptoms worsening.

Try out these strategies and I hope they help.

My name is Dr. Gretchen Hawley. I’m a physical therapist and Multiple Sclerosis Specialist at The MSing Link. If you’re looking for more tips like this, feel free to check out my website at MSingLink.com"

From our humble origins we have been striving to help people live active, comfortable, and safe lives. In a time like this we all need more help and we hope this information on masks and the pitfalls of their use can help. Remember that if you are overheating you can also make sure to stay a safe distance from others to remove your mask and take water breaks and switch out your cooling packs.

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay happy.
