Meet Ruth

In 2007 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. That diagnosis pushed her to find ways to remain active. She is retired and spends her time visiting her grandchildren and bicycling all over the United States. Her greatest bike ride accomplishment so far was in 2013 riding the Multiple Sclerosis City to Shore Ride, which was 75 miles in one day.

Ruth's Now I Can Story

"It's helped me tremendously to remain active."

"Hi my name is Ruth, I'm from Mesa, Arizona and I have MS. I was diagnosed in 2007 and I eventually came to have difficulty exercising outdoors. Because of that, I went in search of a cooling vest. I wanted a vest that didn't look like it belonged on some guy fishing down at the river. When the I found the ThermApparel Cooling Vest, I was thrilled, because now I had a cooling vest that people didn't necessarily have to see. I could wear this under my clothes and no one knew, and that helped me to maintain my exercise level.

Riding bicycles in July in the Arizona heat is definitely a struggle without a cooling vest, it almost became impossible for me to ride with my friends. So when I got the cooling vest, it made a huge difference. I could complete my 25 mile bike ride in July, and feel good. Feel good about myself at the end.

I have extra cooling packs that I kept in the truck so I can switch those out. Sometimes just keeping my other cooling vest in the freezer, because I purchased two, I can have my other vest in there and just switch that out. It's made a huge difference in my life.

Being indoors in the summer trying to cook in Arizona, it's still hot with the air conditioning on. So I wear my vest while I'm cooking. That makes me feel a lot better to get that task done and over with and just being outdoors in the summertime. Other people who maybe don't have MS. Don't struggle with the heat like I do in Arizona.

We have music in the park at the community where I live, I can wear my cooling vest and go and be there and enjoy the music and sit with friends. Maybe be out on the patio with friends at their house and have a drink or two and just have a good time like everyone else.  I'm very grateful."

I'm so happy that I found ThermApparel Cooling Vests. They've helped me tremendously to remain active. In 2007 I was diagnosed with MS and as I've gotten older I seem to struggle more with exercising, especially in the Arizona heat.

ThermApparel Cooling Vests look so much nicer than the traditional cooling vests that look more like fishing gear vests and were bulky and just outright ugly. So I thought I would give it a try and thank goodness I did. It's made a huge change because I can wear the cooling vest for my bike rides in the summer heat of Phoenix.

The first time I tried it out, I had been on a 25 mile bike ride and the cooling vest helped me continue and focus on the ride instead of struggling, and not being able to keep up with my friends on the ride.

I also have the extra cooling packs that I keep in a cooler of ice water, so when I get back to the truck, I can put in the new chilled ones into my vest and keep going.

I don't feel like someone pulled the plug on my energy level and I don't struggle the next day."
