Getting Started

  • You don’t have to remove the cooling packs from the vest to charge them. Put the whole vest with packs included into the freezer or fridge for 45 to 60 minutes (or ice water for 20 minutes) until they are fully solid again.
  • If you take the packs out of the vest, slide the frozen cooling packs into each of the pockets in the back of your ThermApparel UnderCool Cooling Vest.
  • Your UnderCool is now charged and ready to be worn.
    TIPS:
  • Cooling packs can be stacked but will take longer to freeze.
  • Make sure the cooling packs lie flat or they will freeze into strange shapes.
  • If cooling packs freeze in strange shapes run warm water over them until they are squishy. Reshape. Lie flat. Refreeze.

How to Wear

  • Unfasten the Velcro.
  • Place your arms through each armhole.
  • Fasten the Velcro on your front, tight enough so the cooling packs rest firmly on your back.
  • Wear whatever you like over your UnderCool and enjoy a day safe from the heat.

How to Tell if You Have the Right Fit

  • Your ThermApparel UnderCool Cooling Vest should fit your body like a glove with no space between your back and the cooling packs.
  • Watch our sizing video for tips on getting the right fit.

Cooling and Recharging

  • Your ThermApparel UnderCool Cooling Vest will cool as long as the packs haven't phased to complete liquid - this may occur in 1-3 hours depending on your level of activity and the ambient temperature.
  • To recharge the packs, put them back in the freezer or fridge for 45 to 60 minutes (or ice water for 20) until they are fully solid again.
  • Cooling packs can be stacked but will take longer to freeze.
  • Make sure the cooling packs lie flat or they will freeze into strange shapes.
  • If cooling packs freeze in strange shapes run warm water over them until they are squishy. Reshape. Lay flat. Refreeze.

Washing and Care of Garment

Machine Wash

  • Remove all cooling packs from the vest. (They will be destroyed if you keep them in there! Trust us, we tried it and it's not pretty.)
  • Secure the velcro so it won't snag and place it in a small net laundry bag.
  • Wash UnderCool in cold water with like colors.
  • Lay flat to air dry and store flat. (If it goes into the dryer don't panic, you haven't destroyed your vest garment. The dryer just shortens the life of the spandex.)
Washing and Care of Garment - Hand Wash
  • Cooling Packs can stay in the vest garment.
  • Hand wash with mild soap.
  • Rinse well.
  • Lay flat on a towel to air dry.

Storage of Cooling Packs

  • Do not leave cooling packs in a hot car or hot environment.
  • To get the most out of your cooling packs, keep them frozen when not in use.  This can be done by leaving them in the freezer, fridge, or anywhere colder than 70°F/21°C. (The cooling packs can hang out in the fridge or freezer for years. It's ok.)
  • Cooling packs will last for 2-3 years depending on usage.
  • Cooling Packs left in their melted state for extended periods of time will reduce lifespan.
  • To wash your cooling packs, use warm soapy water in the sink.  DO NOT put cooling packs in your washer, dryer, or dishwasher. (They will be destroyed! Trust us, we tried it and it's not pretty.)
