"Here's how to size the new 3.0 cooling vest from ThermApparel. It's very easy, all you need is a cloth measuring tape. If you don't have one of those, not a problem, you can use a phone cord. Now, the main thing to remember about sizing yourself is to avoid anything that has stretch to it. So, like a piece of elastic or your bathrobe tie, anything that's stretchy, you don't want to use; you want to use something that has no stretch to it. I'm going to show you how to do this.
First thing is you want to measure your natural waist, and you want to measure on your skin because the ThermApparel Coolig Vest is meant to be on your skin. So find a mirror in your bathroom or bedroom where you can see yourself, which is not always the greatest experience, but it's only for a little bit.
Your natural waist if you don't know where it is–if you bend to the side where you naturally crease is your natural waist. And this area is right below your ribcage, but it's above your belly button, so right about there.
The first thing is I'm going to measure it with the measuring tape. So, where I bend, I should do it this way: put it around, figure out where you bend, and get it in there. Make sure—I'm looking at myself in the video—you get it level. You know you don't want it down or up one side up one side down. Make sure it's level in the mirror, looking at yourself.
Okay, so I am 36". Now, I am five feet six on a good day away. Right now, I weigh about 175 pounds, which is going to put me right in the middle of a medium.
Now you say, "I don't have a fabric measuring tape." Okay, so get your phone cord, follow the same procedure: find where you bend, and measure yourself.
Now, with this, since it doesn't have numbers on it, make sure you hold on to that. Okay, take a straight ruler and then measure. Oh, see, same measurement.

Once you get it, find the yellow tab. Same thing: Know where you bend, know where your natural waist is, and make sure it's level all the way around. And look, I fall right into the medium.
Let's say I were in between the two sizes, go with the larger size. For example, if I were between the medium and the large, I would go with the large. But since I fall squarely into the medium, I'm going to order the medium."
Sizing Tips:
Sizing for your ThermApparel UnderCool Cooling Vest is really important because it's based on your natural waist. Finding your natural waist is very simple, and you can do it in one of two ways.
- Stand or sit up nice and tall and bend to the side. Where your body naturally creases is your natural waist. Think of the “I'm a Little Teapot” song …” Tip me over and pour me out.” Right where you crease is where you want to measure.
- You can find your natural waist in the area below your rib cage but above your belly button. Right in the center part of your abdomen, in the narrower part where your body naturally narrows
- Sizing is based on your natural waist, not your hips or pant size.
- Measure against your skin.
- Avoid using anything that has stretch to measure with.
- Take your measurements in front of a mirror.
- Make sure your tape measure is level on both sides.

Q: I Don’t Have a Fabric Measuring Tape.
Q: You can measure your waist the same way with a straight ruler and:
- String / Yarn
- Dental Floss
- Shoelace
- Charging cord from your phone
Q: I received my vest, but it isn't working. Do I have the wrong size?
A: When you get your vest, try it on with the packs frozen. Ask yourself these questions.
- Can I feel all the cooling packs on my back?
- If I had one more row of velcro, would it fit better?
- Is there any space between my back and the cooling packs?
- Are the cooling packs too low?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then yes, you most likely have the wrong size.
