From sweltering music festivals to sun-soaked art fairs, here’s how to stay cool, hydrated, and festival-ready with a bit of planning and the right gear.
Tip #1: Know Your Festival
-
Check rules on outside food, drinks, pets
-
Check the weather and remember to think about the climate if you are traveling for the festival. To better prepare yourself if you are traveling, check out our blog on how environmental factors such as humidity, affect heat.
Going to Bonnaroo the first time was a completely different kind of heat than I was used to even being from Maryland, even though its all still considered “the south”.
-
Familiarizing yourself with the festival map is generally a smart move. Look for designated cooling areas, first aid tents, shaded areas, & other accessibility info.
-
Avoid peak hours if heat or crowds are an issue
Tip #2: Pack your Summer Survival Kit
Once, you have a lay of the land so to speak, packing or preparing will be alot easier. Some items we recommend are:
-
Water Bottle
-
SunScreen
-
Small Towel
-
Hat
-
Map of Festival Grounds
-
3 Gallon Zip Lock Top Plastic Bag (Great for keeping important valuables dry AND an easy way to recharge our PCM cooling gear)
- Most Importantly, don’t forget your cooling gear!
ThermApparel Cooling Vests like UnderCool, RallyWrap, and UltraCool will provide a ton of cooling when you need it most. But the CoolSleeves and Headband might be all you need to keep you enjoying the festival all day depending on your needs.
Tip #3: Stay Hydrated
Take a water bottle with you and refill it often. If you can't bring it in with you, refer to Tip #3 and buy the overpriced lemonade and water... and the funnel cake. Your body will thank you for it... the lemonade and water, not so much the funnel cake... but it will be worth it.
🧊 Tip #4: Recharging Your Cooling Packs
-
Use a 3-gallon zip-top bag
-
Add ice and water from any vendor or the first aid tent
-
Chill packs for 30 mins in an insulated lunch bag
TIP 5: Have Fun!
I know this all sounds like alot of planning, but hopefully a little planning means you can spend your time having fun! Enjoy the Art or Music and
