It all depends on how often you use your UnderCool Cooling Vest. We have customers that wear theirs daily and have multiple Vest Garments to keep a steady stream of clean Vest Garments in rotation. And we have other customers that only wear their UnderCool Cooling Vest for a specific sport, activity, or time of year.

Video Transcript:

"So quick question answered: your ThermApparel under cool cooling vest should last about three to five years. Now the components of it have a little bit of different time range. The vest garment itself will last three to five. And now this depends on how often you wear it, how often you wash it, and what activities you're doing in it. But it's like any other kind of sports garment, since it's made out of spandex, it will eventually start to wear out, the straps might get a little loose, you know, it might get a little stretched out, that's a good reason to buy another one. Maybe you want to go from white to black, that's another good reason to buy one. Also just having an extra one so that you always constantly have a clean one.
The cooling packs will last about three years. And after three years, what happens is that the cooling power and the cooling time just starts to diminish. So it's not like they stopped completely working at three years, it just won't be as effective. And things that you can tell is they'll change like a funny pink color, that means it's time to get a new set. If you see any cracking or creasing in the plastic, that means the plastics waring out, it's time to get a new set. But also, you might want to get a new set now because you can upgrade from SlimCool to the ExtendedCool. You can add an extra set so you don't have any anxiety about being out in the heat and thinking oh my gosh, my packs are depleting, I have to go home. No you have your extra set, you can just switch them out and keep going.
So that's the short and easy answer. For more detailed answer. Go see our blog at ThermApparel.com."

Vest Garment

The Vest Garment should last 3-5 years depending on how much you wear it and the care it is given.

Reasons to purchase a new Vest Garment

• Feels loose and the Cooling Packs are not snug on your back
• Showing signs of wear and tear
• Velcro keeps popping open
• Straps are stretched out
• Need an extra vest so there's always a clean one
• Would like to have the other color

Your Vest Garment can be washed by hand or with the washing machine. Check out this blog for proper care and storage or read the cliff notes below.

Washing and Care of your Vest Garment - Machine Wash

  • Remove all Cooling Packs from the Vest Garment.
    TIP:
They will be destroyed if you keep them in there! Trust us, we tried it and it's not pretty.
  • Secure the velcro so it won't snag and place the Vest Garment in a small net laundry bag.
TIP: Don't have one? Purchase a net laundry bag for $7.99 in our shop.
  • Wash Your Vest Garment in cold water with like colors.
  • Lay flat to air dry and store flat.
TIP: If it goes into the dryer don't panic, you haven't destroyed your Vest Garment. The dryer just shortens the life of the spandex.

Washing and Care of your Vest Garment - Hand Wash

  • Cooling Packs can stay in the Vest Garment if you wish.
  • Hand wash with mild soap.
  • Rinse well.
  • Lay flat on a towel to air dry.

Can I purchase just the Vest Garment?

Yes! There are 3 options for purchasing just the Vest Garment

Cooling Packs

Your Cooling Packs should last about 3 years. After 3 years the Cooling Packs start to lose their cooling power and the time they stay cold starts to diminish. If you have Cooling Packs that are over 3 years, this is the perfect time to use our recycling program and get a new set of Cooling Packs at a deeply discounted price.

When should I purchase new ones?

Anytime you want!

Reasons to purchase new Cooling Packs

• Less anxiety about getting stuck in the heat without a backup set
• 1 set of Cooling Packs is not enough to get me through a 5-hour event
• Would like to have a backup set to be able to spend more time with family and friends
• Upgrade from SlimCool to ExtendedCool

Can I purchase just Cooling Packs?

Yes! You can purchase an additional set of Cooling Packs anytime

When should I recycle?

Anytime you want!

Reasons to recycle

• It's been over 3 years since you purchased
• Looks cloudy
• There are cracks and creases forming in the plastic
• Upgrade from SlimCool to ExtendedCool
• Pink color to your Cooling Packs

Extensive use may also result in a deterioration of the encapsulating plastic. To check this we recommend inspecting your packs when they are in a melted state (after you use them, but before you recharge them).

Be on the lookout for any cloudiness in the plastic or any cracks or creases forming. If you see any of these things you should sign up for the recycling program and get new packs.
