This is near and dear to ThermApparel's heart because of an opportunity like this the 2 co-founders were able to create the beginnings for the UnderCool Cooling Vest. We are spreading the word because good design does make a difference in the world.
The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) announced two contests aimed at creating new technologies to improve the quality of life of people with multiple sclerosis (MS). They will be featured at its Annual Meeting, May 28–June 1 in Seattle, Washington.
“Design for Rehabilitation — Take the Challenge”
Identify a “problem or challenge” by the MS patient that can be met by a suitable solution, a device or invention.
The teams will consist of one multiple sclerosis provider or health care professional (MD, PT, OT, etc.), the client (e.g., a patient), engineering student(s) and an engineering faculty adviser.
Promote innovative ideas that will ultimately lead to the design and creation of a mobile application aimed at improving patient education, care, and/or the future of multiple sclerosis management.
Interested groups must submit a one-page letter of intent (LOI) highlighting:
the proposed idea
how the technology solution addresses an unmet need in MS
how the proposed mobile application offers value beyond current solutions. Applications will be scored based on the degree of innovation, quality of submitted content, value to patients, and future potential.
